Notre Dame is closing in on its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2017. What does the path to March Madness look like, and where does the team currently stand in the ACC?

The top-four teams in the ACC regular season standings will receive a double bye for the ACC Tournament, which begins March 8. Teams ranked No. 5 to 9 will get a single bye. The remainder of the conference will start play on Day 1 in Brooklyn.

Here are the ACC standings with just under two weeks left in the regular season:

Teams in place to receive a double-bye

1. Duke (23-4, 13-3 ACC)

Remaining games: at Virginia, at Syracuse, at Pittsburgh, North Carolina

Duke is the only ACC team currently ranked in the AP Top 25, coming in at No. 7 this week. They’ve won four straight and nine of their last 10, but their last loss came against their next opponent: UVA. Regardless, they are the clear favorite to win the conference in Coach K’s final season. Duke is a projected No. 2 seed for the NCAA Tournament per Joe Lunardi‘s latest ESPN Bracketology predictions.

2. Notre Dame (19-8, 12-4)

Remaining games: Syracuse, Georgia Tech, at Florida State, Pittsburgh

The Irish have not lost back-to-back games since Dec. 3, which bodes well for them as they enter the final stretch coming off a loss in Winston-Salem last weekend. Notre Dame could surely win out, and these really are can’t lose games. They are currently a projected No. 9 seed for the NCAA Tournament.

3. Miami (19-8, 11-5)

Remaining games: at Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, at Boston College, at Syracuse

Miami sits in third place over the Tar Heels because they beat them on Jan. 18. They’re quite lucky they get a red-hot Virginia Tech team at home on Feb. 26. Like Notre Dame, Miami is a projected No. 9 seed.

4. North Carolina (19-8, 11-5)

Remaining games: Louisville, at NC State, Syracuse, at Duke

This schedule isn’t too tough to close out the season. Oh, except for a finale at Cameron Indoor Stadium against No. 7 Duke in Coach K’s final regular season game. That will be must-see TV. UNC is a “Last Four In” team at this point according to Lunardi.

5. Wake Forest (21-7, 11-6)

Remaining games: at Clemson, Louisville, NC State

The Demon Deacons faced their last true test of the regular season on Saturday and cleared it with a victory over the Irish. Their three remaining opponents have a combined ACC record of 14-34. Remember, if it comes down to it, Wake Forest holds the tiebreaker over Notre Dame. Three of the four No. 9 seeds for the NCAA Tournament are currently ACC teams, as Wake Forest holds one like Notre Dame and Miami.

6. Virginia (17-10, 11-6)

Remaining games: Duke, Florida State, at Louisville

The Cavaliers will be going for a season sweep of the Blue Devils on Wednesday night. They’re out of Lunardi’s Bracketology predictions right now, but beating Duke twice in a season would certainly make a statement.

7. Syracuse (14-12, 8-7)

Remaining games: at Notre Dame, Duke, at North Carolina, Miami

Yep, that’s correct. Syracuse closes their regular season facing the current top-four seeds in the conference. The ACC is having a down year, but this is still a rough way to close it out heading into the ACC Tournament.

8. Virginia Tech (16-11, 8-8)

Remaining games: at Georgia Tech, at Miami, Louisville, at Clemson

The Hokies fell to North Carolina at home last weekend, but they had won six consecutive games prior to that. They’re a dangerous group capable of notching four more wins to close the regular season. Virginia Tech is on NCAA Tournament bubble, sitting in the “Next Four Out” category.

9. Florida State (14-12, 7-9)

Remaining games: at Boston College, at Virginia, Notre Dame, NC State

The Seminoles’ next and last games are certainly winnable, but playing in Charlottesville and hosting Notre Dame will be difficult. They’re fully out of the NCAA Tournament conversation (barring winning the ACC Tournament), but they’ll look to keep a first-round bye for when the conference meets up in Brooklyn in a couple of weeks.

10. Louisville (12-14, 6-10)

Remaining games: at North Carolina, at Wake Forest, at Virginia Tech, Virginia

This remaining schedule isn’t quite as daunting as Syracuse’s, but it’s certainly not easy. Jumping into that first-round bye group will be a huge challenge for the Cardinals, who have suffered through a tumultuous year.

11. Pittsburgh (11-17, 6-11)

Remaining games: Miami, Duke, at Notre Dame

Pittsburgh’s season could go from bad to even worse, as their final three games are against the top-three teams in the conference. At least they get two of them at home before an early March trip to South Bend.

12. Georgia Tech (11-15, 4-11)

Remaining games: at Syracuse, Virginia Tech, at Notre Dame, at Clemson, Boston College

The Yellow Jackets have five remaining games, starting Monday night at Syracuse. Their first matchup with Notre Dame was an overtime loss, so they will surely be looking to get revenge when they come to South Bend on Feb. 26.

13. Boston College (9-16, 4-11)

Remaining games: Florida State, at NC State, Clemson, Miami, at Georgia Tech

Like Georgia Tech, the Eagles also have five remaining contests. They’ve dropped five consecutive contests, including a heartbreaker at Purcell Pavilion last week. Aside from Miami, their last five games are against the bottom of the ACC. They’ll look to harvest some momentum with a few wins to close out their regular season.

14. Clemson (12-15, 4-12)

Remaining games: Wake Forest, at Boston College, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech

The Tigers are in bad shape. They hold the longest active losing streak in the conference at six games. They’ve already lost this year to Boston College and Georgia Tech, and the Wake Forest and Virginia Tech games are going to be really tough.

15. NC State (11-16, 4-12)

Remaining games: Boston College, North Carolina, at Wake Forest, at Florida State

After six straight losses, the Wolfpack notched a nice 15-point win at Georgia Tech last weekend. They’ve kept a few games close against quality teams this season, so what happens in their last few contests is anyone’s guess.
