Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players and Ohio State coaches and staff members themselves. The latest guest is Dasan McCullough, who has just announced his college choice.

He’s been handling himself like an Ohio State commitment for months already, so it was time for Dasan McCullough to make it official.

During a Monday afternoon conversation with the Buckeyes and coach Ryan Day, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound athlete from Blue Valley North (Olathe, Kan.) High School did just that.

An Ohio native, McCullough has been in constant communication with Buckeyes commit C.J. Hicks in the last few months, waiting patiently for Ohio State to give the proverbial green light on his commitment. As it becomes more and more clear that recruiting visits aren’t happening anytime soon, the Buckeyes opened the door for him knowing it could be another five or six months before an in-person meeting with McCullough could happen.

There was no doubt that the country’s No. 7o-ranked overall 2022 prospect was going to walk through it.

What does it mean to Dasan McCullough to make this decision? Who was the first person he called to spread the news? What kind of recruiting class does he believe that fellow linebacker prospects Hicks and Gabe Powers can help bring to fruition at Ohio State? How did his opinion of Ohio State change as a result of the Big Ten’s decision to postpone football this fall?

Ohio State’s latest commitment shares his thoughts on those things and more in a special commitment edition Birminology from Lettermen Row.
