Ohio State defensive tackle Haskell Garrett unavailable for spring camp

COLUMBUS — Haskell Garrett is again facing another recovery process at Ohio State.
Based on the way he’s responded to setbacks in the past, missing spring camp shouldn’t be much of an issue for the All-American defensive tackle.
The Buckeyes confirmed to Lettermen Row on Friday that the senior who elected to stick around for one more season with the program will be unavailable during the workouts this month and next. Garrett posted pictures using a scooter to get around on his social media, but Ohio State doesn’t disclose specifics about injuries.
Garrett is expected to be fully ready to go by the season. He was last year as well under far more difficult circumstances after getting shot in the face, surprisingly bouncing back to have one of the most productive campaigns of any defensive tackle in the country.
“Not only did I go through trials and tribulations, but our team did,†Garrett said in a social-media post announcing his return in January. “Throughout a lot of prayer and self talk and conversations with my family, we have decided to return for another year at The Ohio State University.

“See you soon.”
Garrett has made himself visible all over Columbus as he’s worked to become a charitable fixture in the community, and he’ll head into the fall as one of the most important leaders for the four-time defending Big Ten champions.
He just won’t be seen in pads for the Buckeyes this month or next, which currently leaves the defensive line a bit inexperienced at tackle. But the bright side for position coach Larry Johnson is that Garrett isn’t expected to be out on a long-term basis, and in the meantime there will be a few extra reps available for young guys to develop.
Then Haskell Garrett gets to launch another comeback for the Buckeyes.
