COLUMBUS — Micah Parrish is headed back to the Midwest and joining Ohio State for the 2024-25 season as a graduate transfer.

Parrish, a Detroit native, began his career at nearby Oakland, where he spent two years before transferring to San Diego State and helping the Aztecs reach the National Championship in 2023 and the Sweet 16 in 2024.

Now, he’s headed to Columbus as the third Ohio State transfer addition of the offseason. South Carolina star and one-time Buckeyes guard Meechie Johnson is back in the fold for next season, and former Kentucky center Aaron Bradshaw has hopped aboard the Jake Diebler train as well.

Ohio State has one scholarship remaining.

The 6-foot-6 Parrish averaged 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this past season at SDSU while shooting 39% from the field, including a career-low 29.2% from beyond the arc. After coming off the bench and chipping in 7.4 points per game during the Aztec’s national runner-up season, Parrish started all but one game in 2023-24.

He posted 15 or more points four times in each of the last two seasons. Last year, he reached that mark against Ohio State in the Maui Invitational, not to mention his 16-point, five-rebound performance versus Furman in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32.

Although Parrish shot sub-40% from the floor in both of his seasons at SDSU, he’s a career 42.8% shooter with 33.2% average clip from long range over the last four years.

He started 57 of the 59 games he played at Oakland and averaged a career-high 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore. That year, Parrish shot 44% from the field and, notably, 35.3% from downtown.

A capable 3-point shooter, Parrish has converted 47 or more attempts from downtown each of the past three seasons.

It’s worth noting that Parrish was teammates at Oakland with forward Trey Townsend, who is currently an Ohio State transfer target.
