COLUMBUS — It’s time.

The Ohio State spring game is here. Lettermen Row is on site providing full coverage, including pregame updates ahead of the highly-anticipated exhibition in the Horseshoe.

Pregame updates:

+ Ohio State arrived at the stadium around 10:45 a.m. Buckeyes players and coaches greeted fans on their way to the tunnel.

+ Ohio State defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau is rocking a visor for what’s likely his final spring game. Tuimoloau and fellow senior edge rusher Jack Sawyer came back for one last ride in Columbus.

+ The Ohio State quarterbacks going through pregame warmups. The Buckeyes have five scholarship signal callers on hand for the spring game.

+ Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has been generating a ton of buzz this spring. Here he is going through throwing drills.

+ Here’s a glimpse of some of Ohio State’s tight ends catching passes pregame, including Ohio University transfer Will Kacmarek.

+ Ohio State quarterbacks Devin Brown and Will Howard threw with each other pregame. They are they frontrunners for the QB1 job, although Sayin is also notably “in the mix,” according to head coach Ryan Day.

+ Second-year wideout Brandon Inniss is sidelined for the spring game. He’s wearing a boot and his right foot and is riding a scooter. Day called it a “temporary injury” earlier this spring.

+ Jeremiah Smith has been in the spotlight all the spring. It will be no different during Saturday’s exhibition.

+ Caleb Downs was a second-team AP All-American safety at Alabama last year. He’s about to play in his first Ohio State spring game.

Potential breakout players for Ohio State spring game

Here at Lettermen Row, we’ve had the privilege of watching Ohio State in a handful of spring practices. So we decided to pick potential breakout players for Saturday’s event, based on what we’ve seen.

We agreed not to pick the household names or even the most buzz-worthy newcomers like true freshman wideout Jeremiah Smith and true freshman quarterback Julian Sayin.

We dug a little deeper. Let’s get into those staff picks.

Projecting Buckeyes depth chart ahead of the spring game

The 2024 season is still a ways away, but there’s no time like the present to project the Ohio State depth chart.

Pecking orders have already formed at some positions, particularly on the defense, which returned eight draft-eligible and starter-level players. Other position groups, namely quarterback and offensive line, however, have open spots for the taking.
