4-star LB JaMichael Garrett commits to Ole Miss

2026 Baton Rouge (La.) Central linebacker JaMichael Garrett announced he’s committed to Ole Miss after his visit for the Arkansas game. The four-star prospect is the second linebacker committed to defensive coordinator Pete Golding.
LSU, Clemson, Missouri, Tennessee, Southern Cal, and Vanderbilt were among the schools pushing for him hard before he opted to commit to the Rebels.
Garrett took an Ole Miss official visit this summer and was previously committed to Auburn before decommitting. Golding and the staff had made a major push with him over the recent months.
“Ole Miss, they do a good job at building relationships and making you feel like a priority,” Garrett told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. “Obviously, they just lost a linebacker in their class. Guy that flipped over seven to eight times, so just knowing that they want loyalty and they have stability. Two coaches that coached under Nick Saban, and just knowing that Nick Saban, one of the greatest coaches to coach in college football, wanted them guys a part of the staff. Then they dispersed out to start their own program, which has been very successful.”
His official visit as well as relationship with current Ole Miss linebacker commit Anthony Davis as well as linebackers playing for the Rebels also helped him in the process.

“Another blessing being able to be recruited by Ole Miss. My official visit down there went great, I was able to bond with a lot of current linebackers on the team and just learn the ways of Ole Miss. It really pulled me closer to them.”
Garrett ranks as the No. 253 player in the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four major recruiting media companies. He is also rated as the No. 15 linebacker and the No. 9 player in Louisiana. Garrett decommitted from Auburn on June 12, nearly 11 months after he originally chose Hugh Freeze and Co.
For his final season of high school football, Garrett was initially set to make the move from Gulf Shores to Auburn High, right next door to the college program he was committed to at the time. Instead, he made his way to Louisiana and is now suiting up for Central in Baton Rouge.
He’s coming off a junior campaign that saw 91 total tackles, per MaxPreps. His last two seasons have seen 178 tackles, 36 of which were for loss, 11 sacks, 19 hurries and two interceptions.
