Announcement: Rebel Grove and OM Spirit unite under one banner

Effective today, the site—currently co-branded as Rebel Grove | OM Spirit—will officially rebrand to Rebel Grove.

While Rivals has owned the Rebel Grove name for decades, this move comes with the full support of Chuck Rounsaville, founder and longtime owner of OM Spirit. The OM Spirit message board community and the original Rebel Grove community have long been the heartbeat of the Ole Miss fan base—and together, they will continue to drive the Rebel Grove brand forward into the future.

As part of this transition, Chuck Rounsaville will enter semi-retirement, with Billy Embody assuming the role of Publisher and contributor. Ben Garrett will continue as Co-Publisher, and Jake Thompson will remain on staff as a key contributor. Chuck will stay involved as an advisor and active presence on the message board.

Going forward, Rebel Grove will feature two message boards for the combined communities:

  • The Grove – Our main sports board for all primary Ole Miss sports discussions as well as other topics.
  • The Spirit Room – A space to talk about anything: sports, life, culture, current events, or just to hang out.

At the end of the day, Rebel Grove isn’t about us—it’s about you, the Ole Miss fan. Whether you’re a die-hard or just casually keeping up, we want you to feel welcome here—whether you’re talking football in The Grove or relaxing in The Spirit Room.

As you may already know, longtime Rebel Grove publisher Neal McCready is moving on to a new opportunity. We thank Neal for his many years of leadership and contribution to the Rebel Grove brand and wish him continued success.

“This site has an incredible legacy and a brighter future,” said Publisher Billy Embody. ”We’re building something special with this team and community, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead Rebel Grove into its next chapter.” 

“I’ve given OM Spirit everything I had for 40 years, and it will always be a part of me,” said Rounsaville. ”While I’m stepping back a bit, I’ll still be around on the boards and helping however I can. I’m proud of what we’ve built—and I’m excited for this next chapter with Rebel Grove.” 

“I’ve never been more excited about the future and what we’re building,” said Garrett. “There’s been plenty of change in the media industry and around these parts in particular, but we’ll continue shaping this site — to the very best of our ability — into something Chuck and all of you can always be proud of. To the moon!”

We’re excited to carry the Rebel Grove name forward—and even more excited about what’s ahead.
