Now all of the regular season games and conference championships are in the books and all that awaits for No. 13 Ole Miss is selection Sunday to commence.

The Rebels will know officially later today but they are pretty much going to be left at the doorstep of the College Football Playoffs in its first year of a 12-team format. This much is understood and reinforced after Saturday’s results.

So now the question turns to which bowl game might Ole Miss play in this postseason?

An answer that has varied nearly daily in the last couple of weeks and ranged in locations across the country.

But with Sunday here the final projections are rolling out ahead of the CFP committee revealing the last Top 25 rankings and the official CFP field later today. Once those 12 teams are known then the non-CFP bowl dominoes will start to fall.

One major domino that will effect the Rebels is what will happen with Alabama?

No. 8 SMU suffered a 34-31 loss to No. 17 Clemson in Saturday’s ACC Championship game off a last-second field goal by the Tigers. Talk was heading into the game that if Clemson beat the Mustangs handily it would knock SMU out and Alabama might be the beneficiary.

But… It was a very close loss that included a late comeback by the Mustangs to set up what many assumed was overtime before the Clemson heroics. So, does SMU stay in and keep Alabama out? If so then that reshuffles the deck for Southeastern Conference bowl tie-ins.

Ole Miss has been in the discussion for the Las Vegas Bowl, then the Gator Bowl and now in the final hours before learning its official bowl game fate they are in projections for Memphis, Nashville and Orlando.

Everything SEC-related really hinges on if the Crimson Tide get in or left out with the Rebels.
