BRACKET WATCH: Ole Miss already trending to host NCAA Tournament games in March

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team felt like it should have hosted first and second round NCAA Tournament games this past March. Next March might be the Rebels time.
On the heels of a Sweet 16 appearance last season Ole Miss is trending for a top four seed in this season’s NCAA Tournament, according to the latest ‘Bracketology’ update from ESPN.
Charlie Creme released his first NCAA Tournament projections since April on Wednesday. He had the Rebels as the 3 Seed in Region 2 Forth Worth as preseason camp gets underway.
The projected seeding has Ole Miss playing 14 Seed Central Arkansas in a first round game. Joining the Rebels and Sugar Bears in Oxford is 6 Seed Oklahoma State and 11 Seed South Florida.
Ole Miss is one of nine Southeastern Conference teams in Creme’s preseason projections. South Carolina and Texas are 1 seeds. Tennessee (2), Oklahoma (2), LSU (2), Vanderbilt (6), Kentucky (7) and Georgia (11) round out the SEC teams in the projections.

Yolett McPhee-McCuin is entering her eighth season as head coach and has roster that put the Rebels as one of the top teams in this past transfer cycle. Ole Miss was considered a transfer portal winner, signing eight players out of the portal.
Ohio State transfer forward Cotie McMahon headlines McCuin’s transfer class. Guards Denim DeShields and Debreasha Powe made the move from Starkville to Oxford and guard Kaitlin Peterson transferred in from Central Florida.
“I’m excited for Team 51 and what they bring to the table,” McCuin said last week. “Lot of unique personalities. We are incredibly diverse as far as talent is concerned. We got shooters, we got drivers, we got bigs, we got littles. We got a little bit of everything.”
