Diego Pounds: The Ole Miss offensive line started to 'click' in win over Arkansas

There has been a lot said of the offensive line play for No. 13 Ole Miss through the first three weeks, but Diego Pounds feels last week’s performance reflects what to expect moving forward.
Throughout Fall camp the front line of the Rebels offense was shuffled and disjointed due to injuries to key players, including transfer Delano Townsend.
Townsend returned to the lineup for the game at Kentucky, replacing PJ Wilkins after a couple drives. From that time on the offensive line has performed better. Still with some issues to address, but Pounds noticed the group is turning a corner.
“I feel like last week is really where we clicked at,” Pounds said after Tuesday’s practice.
“When we were going through camp, obviously a couple injuries on the offensive line. So, getting Delano back and more people back just gets more fire going. You get to see how you gel with different guys. It’s pretty fun having everybody back.”

Pounds was named this week’s SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week for his effort in the 41-35 win over the Razorbacks. He played all 74 snaps of the Ole Miss offense in Saturday’s game.
He is in his second season with Ole Miss after transferring in from North Carolina ahead of the 2024 season. Pounds played in 18 games with the Tar Heels, including eight starts and 13 of those games during his sophomore campaign in 2023.
“It’s been good every week. Now, we get to focus on different opponents, see different defenses and block different defenses,” Pounds added. “Long story short, we get new techniques every week for new defenses. So, it’s been pretty fun.”
