No. 17 Ole Miss is less than two days away from hosting Arkansas for its first SEC home game of the season and might be doing so without its starting quarterback.

Austin Simmons is dealing with an ankle injury he sustained in last weekend’s game against Kentucky. He left the game but did return to take the snap in victory formation on the final play of the 30-23 win.

The redshirt sophomore was designated as ‘Probable’ in Wednesday’s initial player availability report for the week. Thursday’s second report leading up to the the game with the Razorbacks did not include Simmons.

Simmons was in a boot most of the week and did not participate in practice. Rebel Grove’s Chuck Rounsaville reported that Simmons did participate in Thursday’s walkthrough practice. Backup Trinidad Chambliss continued to take snaps with the first team all week.

Ole Miss cornerback Jaylon Braxton continues to be listed as ‘Questionable’ on Thursday’s report. The former Arkansas transfer has yet to make his season debut with the Rebels after suffering a ‘medical situation’ last week kept him out of the Kentucky game, according to head coach Lane Kiffin.

Tight end Luke Hasz remains off this week’s availability report which continues to trend towards him making his Ole Miss debut, playing against his former team. Starting tight end Dae’Quan Wright is also no longer on the report.
