New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart entered his first NFL game in Saturday’s preseason game at the Buffalo Bills. The former Ole Miss Rebel didn’t waste time completing his first pass, but then followed it up with his first touchdown pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

The first round pick threw an 8-yard curl to Zach Pascal to get going after taking over for Russell Wilson.

Going into his first game,Bills star and reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen is someone Dart’s been leaning on for advice going into his rookie year. Giants head coach Brian Daboll was the Bills offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021, which included Allen’s rookie season.

“I talked to Josh, like, a few days after I got drafted,” Dart said on Thursday. “He’s been somebody that I really looked up to since coming here. Just watching a ton of his tape and how he was able to operate coach Dab’s system. It’s going to kind of be a surreal feeling to be on the same field with him.”

Dart was a three-year starter at Ole Miss. He left Oxford as the program’s all-time leader in wins (28). He led Ole Miss to back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since the 60s.

In April, the Giants made Dart the first Rebel quarterback taken in the first round of the NFL Draft since Eli Manning in 2004. They landed him at No. 25 overall.
