Keith Carter: Lane Kiffin to coach Egg Bowl, future at Ole Miss to be announced after

Friday brought a little clarity on Lane Kiffin‘s future plans but they will not be revealed until after Ole Miss wraps up the season in Starkville with the Egg Bowl.
Athletics director Keith Carter released a statement saying Kiffin’s future will be announced next Saturday, the day after the regular season is concluded. The two met on Friday, as was reported would take place. Ole Miss Chancellor Glenn Boyce was also part of Friday’s meeting.
“Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce. While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important — our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion,” Carter’s statement reads.
“Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday’s game. This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it’s imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead.”
Carter’s statement ends by saying an announcement on Coach Kiffin’s future is “expected” on November 29.

The sixth-year head coach has been at the center of the college football coaching carousel for the last few weeks with first Florida coming after his services and then LSU re-entered the sweepstakes over the weekend when reports of a plane went to Baton Rouge on Monday with members of Kiffin’s family.
On Wednesday during the final SEC Coaches Teleconference of the season Kiffin was peppered with questions from national reporters about the future decision of where he will be next year. Those questions included asking if he thought he’d be the coach on the sideline next week in Starkville.
“You know something I don’t know?,” Kiffin retorted. “Do I expect to coach next week? Why would I not expect to coach next week? I mean, I expected to coach against Florida, too. So I don’t even understand the question ‘How would I expect to coach next week.?’ Why would I be at work?
“I mean, we’re game planning. We’re just at practice. I don’t even understand how that would happen.”
