No. 17 Ole Miss and Arkansas kickoff in just over 30 hours and the experts in Las Vegas are continuing to see this as a closer and closer game with each passing hour towards kickoff.

The latest odds at BetMGM see the Rebels (2-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) as a 6.5-point favorite over the Razorbacks (2-0). A drop of another half-point since Thursday.

Ole Miss opened as a 9.5-point favorite on Monday but since then has steadily dropped. A question at quarterback could have the bettors laying more money on the Razorbacks, though Austin Simmons appears to be ready to go for Saturday’s SEC showdown.

After suffering an ankle injury against Kentucky last weekend Simmons was held out of practice for most of the week, wearing a boot, while Trinidad Chambliss took the first team reps.

Wednesday’s initial player availability report listed Simmons as ‘Probable’ then Thursday’s report did not have him listed at all, indicating he is healthy enough to play.

“He’s tough, man, he’s tough, like he’s so mature for his age,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said on Sunday. “You’ve seen him go in and strike out, what the third pick of the draft in baseball as a freshman. This guy going in Georgia, play the way that he did. He’s built different that way. I wish I would have protected him better early and more efficiency early.”

Friday’s report and then Saturday’s report, which comes out 90 minutes before kickoff, will provide further context regarding Simmons.
