LOOK: Calvin Harris makes history as Ole Miss baseball salvages one at Missouri
In an otherwise forgettable season — and over an otherwise forgettable weekend series at Missouri — Ole Miss junior catcher Calvin Harris made some program history.
Harris on Saturday hit a school-record four home runs to lift the Rebels over the Tigers, 20-14, and salvage a one win in a critical series in Columbia. Ole Miss blew a seven-run lead in an 11-9 loss on Friday. They were run-ruled (13-3) Saturday.
Harris’ final blast — a two-run shot to dead center — came in the top of the ninth inning and provided an again-struggling Rebel pitching staff some cover they embarrassingly needed. He became the third player in SEC history to homer four times in a single game and the first-ever in league play.

Harris is up to 12 home runs for the year.
He entered the day tied with veteran second baseman Peyton Chatagnier for fourth on the team. Now he’s second, only trailing Kemp Alderman (19). Chatagnier homered twice in the win on Saturday.

Ole Miss moved to 24-23 (6-18 SEC) overall. Missouri dropped slightly to 27-19 (7-16). However, the Tigers leapfrogged the Rebels in the chase for an SEC Tournament berth. The teams went into the weekend tied in the league standings and were already chasing Mississippi State. Only 12 of 14 SEC teams make the annual trip to Hoover.
The Rebels are dead-last in the conference standings.
Ole Miss next hosts Auburn for three in a week’s time. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 7 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
