LOOK: Ole Miss signee TJ Caldwell wins state title, named MVP

Waxahachie Faith Family Academy (Tex.) shooting guard TJ Caldwell signed with Ole Miss last September and has been going viral ever since.
The Mansfield, Tex., prospect had a breakout summer for EYBL Drive Nation and recently broke the internet when he dunked over a 7-footer during a high school practice. And now, he’s once again going viral on the biggest stage in Texas as he and his Faith Family Academy teammates wrapped up a Texas Class 4A state championship on Saturday.
Caldwell and his teammates defeated Hirschi (Tex.), 76-50, to end their season with a 36-4 record. The Rebel signee led the way for FFA, going 8-of-14 from the field for a game-high 20 points. He was 4-of-8 from three-point range and also added three rebounds, two steals and a block. He was named the game’s most valuable player.

On3’s national basketball recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw was recently on OMSpirit’s podcast, #notcommitted, to discuss Ole Miss’ class. He didn’t mince words about the Texas prospect.
“I love this class,” Shaw said. “He’s a high-upside wing. …he’s always been a great athlete but over the last year he has really figured out his shooting and how to get to his spots on the floor in the half-court and playing off the bounce. He’s somebody I could easily see outplaying his ranking at the end of the day.”
In the 2022 On3 rankings, Caldwell is the no. 108 overall prospect in the class. He is part of a group which includes four-stars Amaree Abram and Malique Ewin as well as Robert Cowherd.
