Madison Scott picked 14th overall by Dallas Wings in 2025 WNBA Draft

Madison Scott helped put Ole Miss women’s basketball back on the national map and now she will get to live out her professional dreams.
The former Rebels forward did not hear her name called in the first round of the WNBA Draft but did not have to wait much longer, going 14th overall to the Dallas Wings. Scott was the second pick of the second round.
This was the third WNBA Draft in the last four years to see an Ole Miss player selected and third in the Yolett McPhee-McCuin era. Shakira Austin was drafted third overall by the Washington Mystics in 2022 and Maruqesha Davis was selected by the New York Liberty as the 11th overall pick in 2024.
Scott is also the eighth overall player to be selected in the WNBA Draft in program history. She was the Wings third pick of the night after Dallas had the No. 1 overall pick, selecting UConn standout and 2025 National Champion Paige Bueckers.
“I want to make sure I come in with that leadership even as a rookie,” Scott said of transitioning from Ole Miss to the WNBA. “Of course I want to come in and be a sponge and learn from all these vets and gain as much knowledge as possible. But I also still want to be me and I know that I could communicate at a high level.”
This season Scott scored in double figures in a team-leading 21 games, averaging 11.8 points and 3.7 assists per game, leading the Rebels in both categories. Recently, she became just the fourth player in Ole Miss history to surpass 1,600 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

She also became the most-experienced player in Ole Miss history with 155 games played, passing Peggie Gillom-Granderson for most games played in a Rebels uniform. Scott also leaves Oxford ranking in the top 10 of eight different statistical categories.
Scott is ready to bring the defensive mindset McCuin instilled into her and the Ole Miss program to the WNBA and Dallas.
“I’ve been in a program for five years where our motto was ‘Dictate and Disrupt,'” Scott added. “It’s embedded in me. It’s in my blood, you know, to play defense at a high level. When you look at our team with Paige, and Anziaha (James) and Arkike (Ogunbowale) and I can go down a list of offensive powers. Great, great players. How can I help this team? There’ll be direct things that Dallas asks me to do to help the team, but I know that I can come in immediately and be a force on defense.”
Scott will quickly transition to training camp with preseason games starting on May 2 for the upcoming 2025 WNBA season.
