Mikeal Brown-Jones injury update: When will the Ole Miss forward return to the court?

For most of its start to Southeastern Conference play No. 23 Ole Miss has been without forward Mikeal Brown-Jones and have managed alright without him, winning the first three games.
Since Brown-Jones suffered an injury against Georgia on January 4, causing him to leave the game after playing only four minutes, he has not returned to the court.
The Rebels were without him last Tuesday at Arkansas and again on Saturday in their 77-65 win over LSU.
Following Saturday’s game Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard provided an update on Brown-Jones, who is still in concussion protocol.
“We got great trainers and great doctors and Mikeal is as tough as any player I’ve ever coached,” Beard said. “He’s doing everything he can. Doctors, trainers communicating around the clock. He’s progressing in the right direction. We’re hoping he can play sooner than later.”

In his first season at Ole Miss Brown-Jones is averaging 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He also has five assists and nine blocks on the year. He transferred in from UNC Greensboro this past offseason.
Brown-Jones’ absence might have inadvertently become the catalyst to jump start the play of Malik Dia. The last two games have been Dia’s best in his short time at Ole Miss. He finished with a game-high 19 points in Saturday’s win over the Tigers.
“Again, just recognize that we’ve had some people step up in (Brown-Jones’) absence,” Beard added. “To win two SEC games without Mikeal, there’s something good going on with our team.”
Next up for Ole Miss is a two-game road trip next week, starting at No. 5 Alabama on Tuesday followed by a drive down to Starkville to play No. 14 Mississippi State on January 18. Brown-Jones status remains unclear for either of those game as of right now.
