Ole Miss among best odds to reach College Football Playoffs in 2025

Ole Miss missed out on the first 12-team College Football Playoffs in 2024 but it currently is a contender to get in the 2025 field.
The experts in Las Vegas and beyond that start rolling out odds for the upcoming college football season still view the Rebels among the favorites across the nation to be vying for one of those 12 spots.
BetOnline released its odds for the teams with the best chances to earn a berth into the CFP. The Rebels were tied with LSU for the ninth-best odds at +140.
The September 27 showdown with the Tigers in Oxford is widely considered one of the few CFP elimination games on the Ole Miss schedule. Last week the Southeastern Conference announced the game received a ‘Flex’ deisignation, starting anywhere between 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CT or 5 p.m. CT to 7 p.m. CT.
BetOnline currently has Ole Miss as a two-point favorite over LSU. The Rebels are also a 9.5-point underdog for their October 18 game at Georgia.
Ohio State (-325), Texas (-300), Oregon (-260), Georgia (-250), Penn State (-240), Alabama (-150), Notre Dame (-150) and Clemson (-130) are the only teams with better odds ahead of Ole Miss per BetOnline.

The Rebels also have the eighth-best odds to win the CFP National Championship at +2500 on BetOnline’s website.
Quarterback Austin Simmons is the new starter for Ole Miss, taking over for three-year starter Jaxson Dart. The redshirt sophomore currently has 10th-best odds for the Heisman Trophy race at +3300.
Simmons is taking over the Rebels offense for the first time but does have the second drive of the game in the win over Georgia last season, resulting in a touchdown, as his experience.
“I knew exactly how good I was before the Georgia game even happened,” Simmons told On3’s Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman earlier this Spring. “It was just a matter of time whether or not I was going to showcase or not. But, hey, that game happened and that event happened, so here I am.
“I got the little hype going. Now I’ve just got to go out there next season and perform well.”
Ole Miss opens the season on August 30, hosting Georgia State at 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
