Homecoming commitment for BYU catcher Collin Reuter, Ole Miss

Ole Miss and head coach Mike Bianco are finally on the transfer portal board. BYU catcher Collin Reuter committed to the Rebels Sunday. The 6-foot-3 backstop is originally from Olive Branch, Miss., and played his high school ball at Magnolia Heights.
The Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection hit .265 with 10 home runs, 28 walks, eight doubles and posted an .860 OPS. In conference, though, Reuter hit .311 BA with eight home runs and an impressive 1.054 OPS.

Ole Miss catcher Eli Berch entered the transfer portal earlier this month. Aside from Reuter, the only catcher on Bianco’s roster is Campbell Smithwick.

Collin Reuter originally chose BYU over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arizona and Arizona State.
He was the 2021 4A Mississippi Player of the Year as a senior. Reuter won two state championships and was named 2019 Pitcher of the Year. In his first year at BYU, he earned All-WCC freshman team honors. The newest Rebel will be a big part of next year’s roster. Smithwick is still working to carve out a spot, either behind the plate or in the outfield. And with Birch gone, this commitment is a much bigger deal.
