Four-star center John Bol signs with Ole Miss basketball

Overtime Elite (Ga.) center John Bol put pen to paper Wednesday and signed with Ole Miss. The four-star prospect made it official and is now the second highest-ranked signee in program history behind current Rebel Matthew Murrell.
Bol originally committed to Florida in June, before de-committing a few weeks later. He is the No. 49 overall recruit, the 4th-ranked player in Georgia and the No. 6 center in the 2024 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average which utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The 7-foot-2 Bol is the first signing of the day for new head coach Chris Beard and Co. It was quite the coup for the Rebels when the South Sudan native snuck into town for an official visit earlier this summer and committed shortly after.
When asked why he picked Ole Miss, John Bol emphasized the importance of relationships and trust.
“Coach (Al) Pinkins has been recruiting me for a long time and we have a great relationship,” Bol said. “Coach Beard was talking to me some when he was at Texas, too. He’s a great coach. They did really good at building that relationship with me. I love the SEC and Oxford is really nice.”

Bol officially visited Oxford, Miss., over the weekend. He did the regular visit stuff. Photoshoot, dinner with the entire staff, campus tour, etc. But it was in the first few moments of his arrival it really hit him.
“Right when I stepped foot on campus. It was just a different vibe.”

OMSpirit asked John Bol to describe his game. The 7-footer did not hesitate one bit.
“I’m a dog. I love blocking shots, rim running and I think playing here I’ll even become better defensively,” Bol said. “I think my offensive game will develop a lot as well.”
Originally from South Sudan, Bol started playing basketball in 2019 while living in Nairobi with his brother. He first played in the United States at St. Louis Christian Brothers (Mo.) where he almost immediately broke the school record for blocked shots his sophomore season. He then transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy (Kan.) before finally landing at Overtime Elite for his senior year. Bol also plays for MOKAN Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit.
