Ole Miss director of player personnel Alex Brown has been tabbed by the Atlanta Falcons for scouting role, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Brown arrived in Oxford in March 2024.

Brown’s taking a scouting role that’ll be an area scout for the Falcons. He arrived at SMU as director of scouting in January of 2022 before being promoted to general manager.

Brown’s leadership in the player personnel department at Ole Miss was just getting started. He spent one season with the Rebels and was revamping the department with hires like Marvin Nash and Derek Ayala.

“So it’s about getting our staff trained up and getting their eyes right. So I take a lot of pride in how we onboard, like the new interns that we bring on, the student interns that we bring on, and then our scouting staff in general,” Brown said of his approach before he left SMU for Ole Miss. “And even on the recruiting side, like Tyler Foster does a lot on the evaluating side because he’s done so much of that at his previous schools. So it’s more about training up the eyes of the people that work with you and creating those filters at each position.”

Prior to his arrival at SMU, Brown spent three seasons at Rice. He served as the director of football recruiting as well as the Owls’ NFL liaison. Before this, he spent four seasons as part of the recruiting staff at Houston under head coach Dana Holgorsen. He worked as the recruiting coordinator for three seasons, assistant director of personnel and pro liaison.

Before his arrival at the college ranks, Brown spent four years as the head central scout for Optimum Scouting where he scouted the Big 12 and SEC.
