No. 20 Ole Miss (3-1) hosts No. 13 LSU (3-1) for the SEC home opener Saturday. Lane Kiffin is 17-5 at home and 9-4 against the SEC. But the offense has been bogged down with inconsistencies and offensive line issues. And despite all this, Jaxson Dart has been very solid delivering to Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade and defensive coordinator Pete Golding has been quite good as well.

The Tigers of LSU are coming off an emotional rivalry win over Arkansas last week which got a little too close to comfort. Jayden Daniels to Malik Nabers is one of the best one-two punches in the conference and Harold Perkins tormented the Rebels off the edge in 2022. Will Brian Kelly and Co. do it again?

“Our challenge is to get better this week. I did tell them, we’ve been in this situation. Happened to be in the same situation two years ago,” said Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin on Monday. “Went 3-0, went into Alabama and actually played a lot worse. I think that game was 35-0 at one point. Ended up coming back from that game and going 10-2. Got a lot of football in front of us, and a huge one this week against I would argue maybe the hottest offense in the country.”

This sets up another showdown in the Magnolia Bowl series.

When games have been played at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium the Tigers hold an 10-8-1 edge. Ole Miss did take the last game to be played in Oxford, defeating Ed Orgeron’s Tigers 31-17 during the 2021 season for the first win at home in the series since a 38-17 win in 2015.
