ToC Short Sessions: Pete Nakos, On3 transfer portal expert

As the portal continues to turn, OMSpirit got On3’s College Sports Business & Transfer Portal Reporter Pete Nakos on a podcast. We sat down with the Portal Czar to discuss the latest intel around South Carolina wide receiver Juice Wells, Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolen and much more.
Nakos also touches on the come up for Walker Jones and the Grove Collective. He discusses reputation, following through and fulfilling “promises” in recruiting these days is a gamechanger for programs like Ole Miss.
“Ranked by On3 as the No. 1 player in the portal, Walter Nolen will be pursued by nearly every major program,” Nakos said. “Michigan and Tennessee were considered coming out of high school and they’re considered some of the top schools to watch. Alabama shouldn’t be ruled out either. But I agree with my colleague Andy Staples, who mentioned on his show Wednesday night that Florida State could emerge as a contender.

“The Seminoles have proven to be winners in the portal – they landed 13 a year ago,” Nakos said. “Integrating players hasn’t been a problem, case in point Jared Verse, who led FSU in sacks this season.”

“Tennessee and Texas have emerged as top schools in the recruitment of South Carolina transfer Juice Wells, according to multiple sources,” Nakos said. “In the last 24 hours, Oregon and Ole Miss have also made a strong push.”
