Ole Miss Football has nailed down one of its recruiting department hires with Old Dominion’s Dwike Wilson, On3Sports confirmed on Monday. The move was first reported by Rebels247’s Chase Parham.

While his role is in recruiting, it’s not yet available as far as what his title is. The Rebels still are building out their recruiting and personnel office, which saw a few departures like Kelvin Bolden, Alex Brown, Marvin Nash and others.

Wilson, who is from Vicksburg, Miss., has always wanted to help Mississippi. Whether it be his start at Ole Miss, working in Mississippi JUCOs or time at Southern Miss, he’s always wanted to help.

“I was always one of those guys who was driven and told you what I was going to do,” Wilson said in a recent interview with Harry Minium. “In the 11th grade, I had my goals for the next five years done, something I have my players do now. I knew I wasn’t going to the NFL. I wanted to get into my thing, to coach. I thought going to Ole Miss would speed it up.

“That’s one thing I wouldn’t trade about Mississippi,” he added. “I wouldn’t trade my growing up there for nothing. I learned so much about life and being successful.”

While he was just at Old Dominion for this offseason, being hired in January, Wilson is born and raised in Mississippi. He spent the previous two seasons at Southern Miss, where he was cornerbacks coach and defensive recruiting coordinator.

Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, Wilson spent a pair of seasons at South Alabama. In 2022, Wilson helped the Jaguars win 10 games and reach the New Orleans Bowl as the program established school marks for both overall and conference wins in a season.

Wilson served two seasons at Indiana as the Hoosiers’ director of player personnel and high school relations.

Prior to that, the former Ole Miss student assistant spent time at Jones County C.C. as defensive coordinator after his 2009-15 stint at Hinds C.C. Wilson was the recruiting coordinator and quarterbacks coach at North Carolina A&T for three seasons, one year at Murray State and four seasons at Itawamba C.C.

As a collegiate player, Wilson played at Hinds CC — helping the Eagles win the state championship in 1997 — before going on to work as a student assistant for two years at Ole Miss, where he would earn his bachelor’s degree.
