FINAL: NO. 17 OLE MISS 41, ARKANSAS 38

Dottery has not had the best night but he makes up for it in timely fashion with a forced fumble. Rebels recover and have it back with 1:53 left in the game. Need a first down as Razorbacks have two timeouts to use.

Razorbacks answer back with a 11-play drive that goes 75 yards and ends with a 3-yard run by Washington. Not over, quiet yet.

Once the drive resumes Ole Miss stalls out inside the Razorbacks 10 yard-line. Carniero converts a 23-yard field goal to extend the lead.

Long stoppage of play after Deuce Alexander made a 35-yard catch when an Arkansas defender, Kani Walker, suffered an injury on the tackle. Walker collidged with Alexander and a teammate and did not get up. It appeared he might have had a knee or a foot clip the back of his helmet. He was carted off the field.

END OF THE 3RD QUARTER: No. 17 Ole Miss 38, Arkansas 28

The Rebels defense finally comes alive and gets a stop. The line with two reads in a row on the run game stuffed Green and Washington. Razorbacks then miss a 49-yard field goal attempt.

Trinidad Chambliss might be a solid player, and now a possible quarterback battle suddenly mid-season? He’s up to 318 passing yards and a touchdown.

He hits De’Zhaun Stribling for a 6-yard touchdown pass and Ole Miss has a two-score lead for the first time tonight.

I guess the punters got angry in each locker room and told the defenses to do do better. Both teams have traded punts for the first time tonight.

First Half Stats:

That was a timely score as Ole Miss gets the ball back to star the second half.

HALFTIME: No. 17 Ole Miss 31, Arkansas 28

Chambliss returned to the game after having a cut on his thumb patched up. Leads the Rebels down the field for yet another score. Lucas Carniero drilled a 36-yard field goal as time expired.

Lacy exited the game earlier in the same drive but was back in towards the end.

Ole Miss 28, Arkansas 28 1:18 2nd Qtr

There is a lot to be desired, and very concerned about, with this Ole Miss defense. Players are just over pursuing or mis-reading. Green with another touchdown, this one off a 5-yard run.

Ole Miss 28, Arkansas 21 3:17 2nd Qtr

A very newsworthy drive as Ole Miss has an injured quarterback situation on its hands. Chambliss hurt his right hand on a throw and had to come out, which led to Austin Simmons going in.

First play is a run play for Simmons and he hurt himself more on the play. He limped noticeably bad the rest of the drive but hung in there to throw a touchdown to a wide open Harrison Wallace III.

Ole Miss 21, Arkansas 21 7:01 2nd Qtr

Razorbacks take advantage of the extra chance inside the Rebels 10 with a 3-yard run by Braylen Russel to tie the game.

Antonio Kite had an interception in the Rebels end zone but a defensive holding by Wydett Williams, Jr. negates it.

This Rebels defensive line is either misreading the option or overrunning the player when they guess correctly. Green is just running circles around this group so far.

Ole Miss 21, Arkansas 14 11:31 2nd Qtr

The Rebels can convert big plays on third-and-longs, too. Chambliss finds Dae’Quan Wright for 64 yards, nearly scoring. Chambliss then walks it in on the next play for his second touchdown of the night.

Back and forth we go here in the second quarter.

Ole Miss 14, Arkansas 14 13:22 2nd Qtr

There is a reason the over/under was so high in this game. The reason is both defense might be not be that elite at this point. Mike Washington found a major hole in the line and took it 47 yards for the touchdown.

Sage Ryan got a personal foul call when he left his feet a split-second after Green opted to slide. Cannot have those kinds of miscues in a game like this.

Ole Miss 14, Arkansas 7 14:16 2nd Qtr

Chambliss might be the pick of the transfer portal. He had added a different level of the offense tonight. He caps the drive with a two-yard run.

END OF THE 1ST QUARTER: No. 17 Ole Miss 7, Arkansas 7

Chambliss scrambles and finds an open Cayden Lee for 62 yards and the Rebels are at the Razorbacks 13 yard-line just like that.

Kiffin was giving the side judge an earful after the touchdown, thinking the Arkansas left tackle jumped early before the snap. To no avail.

Ole Miss 7, Arkansas 7 :10 1st Qtr

Green is making plays with his feet and his arm. Razorbacks complete to big third down conversions on its second drive of the game. The second went for a 30-yard touchdown pass to O’Mega Blake to tie the game up.

Ole Miss 7, Arkansas 0 7:14 1st Qtr

A 67-yard 13-play drive which featured a heavy dose of running by Chambliss is capped by a 2-yard run by Kewan

Trinidad Chambliss makes the start for the Rebels on offense

Razorbacks had an opening play go for 34 yards but then they are forced to try a 51-yard field goal which doinks off the frame. Rebels nearly had an interception on the drive, too.

Pregame Observations

Arkansas won the toss and elected to receive.

Austin Simmons ran out onto the field suited up along with Chambliss. He looked to be walking and moving around just fine. Though Simmons is taking snaps from John Wayne Oliver while Chambliss is taking snaps from Brycen Sanders.

Final availability report is out and Ole Miss will be without Jaylon Braxton for a third straight game. Traylon Ray is also out for a second week.

Luke Hasz, Kam Franklin and T.J. Dottery are the team captains today.

No. 17 Ole Miss returns home to Oxford for a four-game homestand over the next five weeks, with its first of two bye weeks mixed in.

Septembers tough schedule rolls on with Arkansas coming to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and the second Southeastern Conference opponent in the first three weeks of the season. The Razorbacks are also the second of three SEC foes in the first five weeks.

The Rebels (2-0, 1-0 SEC) are heading into Saturday’s game with a question mark over the status and health of starting quarterback Austin Simmons. An ankle injury had him in a boot most of the week before participating in Thursday and Friday’s practices. Simmons also came off the availability report after being designated as ‘Probable’ on Wednesday.

So, Simmons is able to play but will he start? That’s the question, or will it be backup Trinidad Chambliss that gets his first career SEC start majority of the workload? The Ferris State transfer took all of the first team snaps during practice this week.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN. Keep this page open for live updates, scores and highlights once the game gets underway.
