FINAL: No. 9 GEORGIA 43, No. 5 OLE MISS 35

Georgia 40, Ole Miss 35 7:29 4th Qtr

Ole Miss the first team to punt of the game and in a game where the offense had to score every drive that was costly.

Georgia goes 9 plays in over 5 minutes and re-takes the lead off a touchdown pass to Luckie, his third of the game.

Ole Miss 35, Georgia 33 12:56 4th Qtr

The Bulldogs are not going away and the Rebels defense is making it easy for them not to. This is not a game to keep the film of after Sunday’s re-watching of it.

Stockton finds Nate Frazier for 3-yard touchdown pass.

END OF 3RD QUARTER: No. 5 OLE MISS 35, No. 9 GEORGIA 26

Ole Miss 35, Georgia 26 4:12 3rd Qtr

The failed two-point conversion looms large now for Georgia. Chambliss scores on a 2-yard keeper and it is now a two-score game for the first time today.

Kiffin and Co. deep in their bag on a fourth down call that really might have been a pivotal moment of the game. Trick play led to a 16-yard gain for Chambliss.

Ole Miss 28, Georgia 26 10:02 3rd Qtr

Suntarine Perkins sighting as he gets to Stockton on the 2-point try but not after Georgia just moves down the field at ease. Luckie and Stockton connect for a 3-yard touchdown pass.

Bulldogs are over 300 total yards of offense already and at nearly 120 rushing yards. One of their better games this season on that side of the ball and all thanks to a porous and lackluster Ole Miss defense performance so far.

Ole Miss 28, Georgia 20 14:46 3rd Qtr

If Lane Kiffin and the offense wanted to make an immediate impact to start the half that was the way to do it. De’Zhaun Stribling goes 75 yards for the touchdown and a little breathing room. Time for the defense to do something

First Half Stats:

HALFTIME: No. 5 OLE MISS 21, No. 9 GEORGIA 20

Been a bend but don’t break type of defense for the Rebels and it showed up again to close out the first half. Bulldogs held to a 35-yard field goal instead of a touchdown. A win for Ole Miss who gets the ball to start the second half.

Ole Miss 21, Georgia 17 2:10 2nd Qtr

Lacy caps another scoring drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Rebels have not punted yet and scored on all three possessions. Might have to the rest of the way, too.

The Rebels offensive line is playing its collective rear ends off so far. Chambliss has had time most plays and has not been hurried once.

Georgia 17, Ole Miss 14 7:13 2nd Qtr

Ole Miss finally blitzed then guessed on the wrong guy and then whiffed on the correct guy all in the same play. Princewill had Stockton dead to rights and just blew right by him for a 22-yard touchdown run.

Georgia is just very good at keeping drives going, forever, plus the Rebels secondary is letting Stockton look all-SEC out there on key third downs.

Ole Miss 14, Georgia 10 10:53 2nd Qtr

Lacy pushes it in from a yard out two plays after Chambliss hit Winston Watkins for a 24-yard gain to get to the Bulldogs 5 yard-line.

The increased role of Dae’Quan Wright and the addition of Kewan Lacy to this offense cannot be overstated. Both have been game changers and difference makers this season.

Georgia 10, Ole Miss 7 14:56 2nd Qtr

First play of the quarter is a 11-yard touchdown pass from Stockton to tight end Lawson Luckie. Luckie was wide open after Sage Ryan lost him in coverage.

END OF THE 1ST QUARTER: No. 5 OLE MISS 7, No. 9 GEORGIA 3

Georgia doing what it does and just taking its time march down the field on a lengthy drive of its own. Bulldogs currently at the Rebels 11 with a third down waiting for them on the other side of the break. Harris with a nice play for a five-yard loss on second down.

Ole Miss defense is going to need to show some teeth here soon. If Pete Golding is waiting for the ‘right moment’ feels like it is now.

Ole Miss 7, Georgia 3 5:47 1st Qtr

Rebels cap a 14-play drive with Chambliss making a nice scramble to avoid a sack on 3rd and Goal for the touchdown. You have to be impressed by that scoring drive and the composure throughout it.

It’s very early but the Rebels offensive line is holding up well against the Georgia defensive front. Chambliss has clean pockets, so far. Ole Miss is at the Bulldogs 13 already

Trinidad Chambliss gets the start but look for Simmons as Lane said pregame both are good to go and available.

Georgia 3, Ole Miss 0 11:05 1st Qtr

The 51-yard field goal has to feel like a win for the Ole Miss defense after the way the possession started.

Rebels secondary is going to have to tighten up or it will be a long day as Georgia and Stockton adjust. Chris Graves, Jr. was out of position on a 36-yard flea flicker play that got the Bulldogs to the Ole Miss 25. An OPI flag stalled the drive.

Ole Miss wins the coin toss (tails never fails) and deferred. Georgia will get the ball first.

———————————————————————————————————————————

No. 5 Ole Miss is back in Athens for a crack at a top-10 win over No. 9 Georgia and a chance to do something the program has not done in nearly 30 years.

A tall task but the Rebels (6-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) are looking to avenge the 35-point loss to the Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1) from two years ago in the same rainy and cold stadium. The game was also a flashpoint moment for the program as Lane Kiffin realized the Rebels had to get bigger and stronger in the trenches to compete in the SEC.

The call was answered and will be put to the test as Saturday’s contest feels like a ‘trench game’ that will be won at the line of scrimmage. Ole Miss is good at third down conversions. The Georgia defense has not been good at getting off the field on third down, consistently.

Trinidad Chambliss looks poised to make his fifth start and first SEC road start. Though Austin Simmons could reappear after missing the last four games due to an ankle injury. At least according to Lane Kiffin when speaking to Chris Low earlier this week.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC. The Bulldogs are a 7-point home favorite on BetMGM. Keep this page open throughout the game for updates, highlights and more.
