Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State: Early point spread revealed, Rebels are massive favorites

The Ole Miss Rebels are 26.5-point favorites over the Mississippi State Bulldogs for Friday’s Egg Bowl, according to FanDuel on Monday.
Last week, Florida upset the Rebels in Gainesville, Fla. while the Bulldogs fell by 19 to Missouri. In Oxford at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC, Lane Kiffin’s team will try to win its fourth Egg Bowl in five years.
Kiffin knows that despite outgaining the Gators by 100 yards, turnovers and missed redzone opportunities probably sunk his team’s chances at the College Football Playoff.
“Yeah, I mean, we’re just in today. It’s going to be really challenging – just today. So I ain’t got to tomorrow yet,” Kiffin said after the loss to Florida. “You know, there’s a lot at stake here and a lot of disappointed players, coaches in that locker room.”

In a rivalry game this week, Ole Miss could have to win a close one, if Vegas oddsmakers are off the mark. The over/under is set at 61.5 points.
“It’s football. It happens,” Kiffin said postgame. “The year before, it was the opposite, right? Sometimes the ball goes that way. We have opportunities to make plays. Situations. That’s a pretty easy story. They’re 2-2 in the red zone. We’re 0-3. We outgain ‘em by 100 yards but we don’t win the turnover margin. So again, shows how irrelevant yards are compared to scoring in the red zone and turnovers.”
