When the 2025 season started the one area of concern for the Ole Miss offense was its offensive front. While looking like it improved via the transfer portal nothing was going to known until games were played.

Well, through five games the struggle was real initially but now the No. 4 Rebels have a front five that appear to be finding its rhythm at just the right time.

None more than Patrick Kutas.

The Arkansas transfer got off to a rough start with an injury in camp and relegated to only participating in center drills and taking snaps with the quarterbacks. Very little contact during the rest of practice. Then he got the start at right guard and since the season opener against Georgia State to Saturday’s win over LSU the improvement has been noticeable.

“Just kind of finding my groove,” Kutas said after Tuesday’s practice. “Getting comfortable again. Trusting myself, trusting the guys next to me, knowing that the game plan is going to work. Really just more reps (for me). That’s what it’s been.”

Kutas getting his groove back led to him earning Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week from the Southeastern Conference office on Monday.

“I mean, it’s cool, but it’s not everything,” Kutas added. “I recognize it and then move forward. It’s pretty cool but it doesn’t really play in how I view myself or how I look at myself being better or worse.”

The past two weeks Kutas has been one of the two highest-graded offensive lineman from Pro Football Focus.

Ole Miss front five on offense started turning a corner during the Kentucky game in week two.

The shift started when transfer Delano Townsend entered the game, replacing PJ Wilkins.

The Rebels offensive line is tied with Tennessee with four sacks allowed through five games, the second-lowest number in the SEC. Texas and Vanderbilt are tied with three sacks allowed.

Kutas and the rest of his group kept quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’ jersey clean on Saturday, not allowing the LSU defense to record a sack.

“I think we just started jelling, like a lot better,” Kutas said. “Our first time playing was Georgia State, all together. But it’s really just been week by week. We’re getting more comfortable with each other. We’re jelling, we’re starting to trust each other a lot more. So that’s just a natural progression that’s going to happen.”
