Ole Miss secured its first win in Southeastern Conference play, knocking off Kentucky in Lexington and set itself up for a chance at a strong September finish.

The 30-23 victory also avenged last year’s loss to the Wildcats with Lane Kiffin and the Rebels (2-0, 1-0 SEC) getting a little bit of revenge.

“Really proud of our guys, coming on the road in the SEC and winning is a hard thing to do,” Kiffin said postgame on Saturday. “You play four of these, for now, you play four every year and they’re hard. So it’s like you just have a relief to cross them off and get wins on the road. Proud of our guys.

But how did it affect Ole Miss’ standings in the latest Top 25 rankings?

Well, the win boosted the Rebels in both, but not a whole lot despite ranked teams above them suffering losses throughout Week 2. They moved up three spots to No. 17 in the Associated Press Poll and up one spot to No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Rebels are one of 11 SEC teams in the AP Top 25 this week and among the nine teams inside the Top 20. Florida fell completely out of the rankings after its loss to South Florida.

Next up for Ole Miss is a three-game homestand starting on Saturday with Arkansas at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN. Tulane and No. 3 LSU follow before hitting the first bye week of the season on October 4.
