POLL POSITION: Ole Miss men's basketball remains a Top 25 team

The college basketball regular season has just a little over a month remaining and the Ole Miss men’s basketball team continues to remain in good shape heading towards playing meaningful games in March.
A 10-point loss to No. 1 Auburn on Saturday was discouraging in results but the takeaway is clear the Rebels are heading in the right direction. The voters for the polls felt the same way.
Monday’s latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings showed Ole Miss (16-6, 5-4 Southeastern Conference) remains one of the top 25 teams in the country.
In the AP Poll they dropped two spots to No. 25, hanging on after splitting last week’s games against Texas and the aforementioned Tigers. In the Coaches Poll the Rebels dropped out after being No. 23 last week.

This week presents another opportunity to secure a Quad 1 win over a ranked opponent followed by a game that Ole Miss should be favored in heavily this weekend. First, No. 14 Kentucky (15-6, 4-4) comes to Oxford on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT then the Rebels travel to Baton Rouge on Saturday to take on LSU (12-9, 1-7) at 7:30 p.m. CT
In Monday’s NET rankings update Ole Miss was No. 23 with the Wildcats at No. 19 after their Saturday loss to Arkansas. Despite their struggles this season LSU sits at No. 74, making it a Quad 2 opportunity as of now.
