Saturday saw Ole Miss defeat LSU, securing a win over a top-five team for the second season in a row, and are now a top-five team itself.

The Rebels 24-19 defeat over the Tigers improved them 5-0 for a perfect September and 3-0 to sit atop the Southeastern Conference standings.

“To me that’s really cool that you get to a place at a program that you do beat the number three team in the country and you don’t rush the field,” Lane Kiffin said on Saturday. “Because we’re doing what we’re supposed to do and that’s win the game. That makes me happy that this program’s gotten to that place.”

In Sunday’s latest rankings the Rebels moved up nine spots to No. 4 in the Associated Press poll and up seven spots to No. 4 in the Coaches Poll.

Ole Miss is the highest ranked SEC team in the AP Top 25 and one of 10 SEC teams in the rankings. The Rebels are one of five teams in the Top 10.

Oklahoma (No. 5), Texas A&M (6), Texas (9) and Alabama (10) round join the Rebels in the Top 10.

The Rebels have a bye week this weekend before getting back into non-conference play on October 11 to host Washington State (3-2). Kickoff is set for 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network.
