POLL POSITION: Where is Ole Miss in the final regular season rankings?

The hay is in the barn, as they say, and Ole Miss can only sit and wait for the next week to see where it will play in the postseason.
Wrapping up the 2024 regular season on Friday with a 26-14 win over Mississippi State to keep the Egg Bowl trophy in Oxford secured the chance for a third double-digit win season in the last four years.
But was it enough to maybe sneak into the College Football Playoffs? The answer seems to be close but no cigar.
The Rebels (9-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) did not get enough of the help it needed on Saturday as upsets were few and far between, especially in the SEC. Tennessee and Alabama avoided upsets in their rivalry games, but South Carolina did secure a victory in its by beating Clemson in the final minutes.

Looking at Sunday’s final regular season rankings by the Associated Press and Coaches Poll it paints a picture of what might happen come Tuesday in the College Football Playoff Top 25 ahead of Championship Saturday.
Ole Miss remained at 15 in the AP Poll while moving up a spot to 15 in the Coaches Poll. The Gamecocks jumped the Rebels in the the AP Poll, moving up three spots to No. 13.
Sign of things to come on Tuesday? Possibly. But the CFP committee has said they place value on head to head matchups, though this is all probably just for ceremony’s sake as neither Ole Miss or South Carolina appear to have done enough, gotten the right dominos to fall to backdoor into the final 12-team field.
