Running Updates: What We're Hearing on Lane Kiffin
Ole Miss had a team meeting called for 9 a.m. CT. It was moved to 1 p.m. CT.
The team’s players council, which has met with Lane Kiffin, who’s seemingly off to LSU, consists of TJ Dottery, Brycen Sanders and Austin Simmons, among others.
Kiffin has wanted to leave for LSU for over a week. The only hangup has been his desire to coach the College Football Playoff. Ole Miss has told him repeatedly, and held firm, that there’s no scenario in which he’ll be able to do that.

The interim, as we’ve been reporting, would be either Joe Judge and Pete Golding. Golding wants the job and has been leading the Rebels’ recruiting efforts (high school and portal) throughout this whole deal. We first-reported yesterday an ultimatum was issued to offensive staffers to accept their LSU offers today or don’t bother trying to follow Kiffin to LSU. CBS is reporting Golding will be the interim.
All of which brings us to today. Our take? LSU has taken his commitment, he’s signed an MOU, details are all but finalized, but the ugliness of the exit is complicating everything.
