Sam Williams writes thank you letter to Ole Miss fans, picks up more All-American honors
Sam Williams still has one final game in an Ole Miss uniform, but he is already getting his goodbyes and thank yous in for Rebel fans.
In a post on his Twitter account on Tuesday, Williams wrote a letter to the Rebel fan base, acknowledging his intent to begin working on making it to the NFL following the Sugar Bowl.
“This season I have continued to grow as a player, teammate, man and most importantly, as a Father,” Williams’ letter read. “To my coaches, thank you for pushing me and challenging me every step of the way. Without your guidance, love and support I wouldn’t be the player or the man I am today.
“To Rebel Nation, you have supported me and my teammates the entire season and provided us with immense energy. Thank you for constantly supporting us through the ups and down.”
Williams gave the fans plenty to support and cheer as the defensive end is concluding a career and historic season.
Earlier this year Williams set a new single-season sack record and is continuing to set it with 12.5 entering the Sugar Bowl.

The sack tally along with 56 tackles, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery helped Williams earn All-American honors. On Monday, Williams was named an AP All-American, landing on the third team Defense.
On Tuesday, Williams was named a Sporting News All-American, landing on the Second Team. On Saturday, Williams was also named a Walter Camp All-American and placed on the Second Team.
Williams is the first Rebel defensive player to earn the Walter Camp honor since 2015.
“I look forward to taking the field with my brothers one last time in the Sugar Bowl and starting my career in the NFL,” Williams’ letter concluded.
The final game for Williams, and other Rebels, will be on Jan. 1 when No. 8 Ole Miss takes on No. 7 Baylor in the 2022 Sugar Bowl.
