The Flagship: Prieskorn’s status, Dart’s (justifiable, honestly) frustration + more

In this edition of The Flagship, on the Talk of Champions network of podcasts, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit (On3) get you ready for the Rebels’ season opener against Mercer on Saturday.
Memphis transfer tight end Cade Prieskorn has a knee injury that could keep him out multiple games/weeks. Ole Miss doesn’t need Prieskorn on Saturday, and Hudson Wolfe is finally flashing, but what’s the very latest heading into the weekend?
“It’s conflicting information,” Garrett said. “But (all the reporting) is pretty much saying the same thing.
“They’re trying to avoid surgery if they can. Because if he has to go under the knife, it’s going to be multiple weeks.”

Prieskorn transferred to Ole Miss in January and went through spring practices.
He’s worked as the No. 1 tight end since he arrived and despite the presence of former top prospect and decorated transfer Michael Trigg. Trigg is formerly of USC and in his second Ole Miss season. He was again removed from practice this week and his status with the program was in doubt. However, he remains a member of the team as of Thursday.

Prieskorn spent four seasons at Memphis but broke out in 2022. He was named All-AAC after bringing in 48 catches for a team-leading 602 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
“The likely result, I think, is Ole Miss decides to bite the bullet and he goes under the knife,” Garrett continued. “But that’s speculative. What we know is there’s an issue with Caden Prieskorn that could hold him out multiple weeks (and) a decision (on surgery) has not been made.”
Plus, assumed Rebel starting quarterback Jaxson Dart sounded frustrated earlier this week. Honestly, he kind of has reason to be.
