September continues to roll on and continues to be a tough start to the 2025 season for No. 17 Ole Miss with a second Southeastern Conference opponent in the first three weeks.

This weekend brings Arkansas to Oxford for the start of a four-game homestand in the next five weeks and a rematch from last year’s 63-31 beat down by the Rebels in Fayetteville.

Sixth-year head coach Lane Kiffin is not feeling, nor expecting, this Saturday’s game to mirror the care-free afternoon Ole Miss had last year.

“Really challenging week playing against Arkansas and preparing for them,” Kiffin said during his Monday press conference. “Really good team, dynamic offense and really dynamic quarterback. One of the top offenses in the country, statistically.”

Saturday marks the first SEC game of the season for Arkansas (2-0) who is coming off wins over Alabama A&M and Arkansas State. While the Rebels (2-0, 1-0 SEC) has a conference road win already in their back pocket.

Part of the challenge is going to be containing Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green. The senior signal caller has thrown for 561 yards and 10 touchdowns while throwing two interceptions. Green is also a weapon with his feet, rushing for 192 yards and a touchdown in the first two games.

Green played against Ole Miss last year and was held to 158 passing yards and 16 rushing yards while splitting snaps with Malachi Singleton. This year it seems Green is the de-facto starting quarterback for the Razorbacks.

“He’s a dynamic athlete from height, weight, speed standpoint. Being able to run like he can,” Kiffin said of Green. “I don’t think he was fully healthy in our game a year ago. He’s a problem. He’s a lot to deal with. Kind of similar in that way (to the) South Carolina quarterback, LaNorris (Sellers). Two guys that are really hard to game plan for. Because they’re big and they can throw, and run.”
