WATCH: Lane Kiffin previews Kentucky and first SEC game of the season for No. 21 Ole Miss

Last season Ole Miss had to wait five weeks to get into its Southeastern Conference schedule. That is not the case in 2025 and the No 21-ranked Rebels (1-0) break the seal off its conference slate on Saturday in a rematch at Kentucky.
The Wildcats came to Oxford last season and left with a 20-17 upset victory. A win that arguably kept Ole Miss out of the College Football Playoff’s inaugural 12-team field.

A result that also lingered with Lane Kiffin more than a usual loss does.
But Monday welcomed a fresh week and the lead up to the chance to avenge that loss and hand the Wildcats (1-0) their first SEC defeat of 2025 in the first SEC matchup of the season, and the only one in Week 2.
Kiffin took the podium after a walk-through practice and discussed the upcoming game against Kentucky.
“This is an exciting game to have up front like this, early on,” Kiffin said. “We’re going to have to prepare early on. This is an extremely well-coached team. Somehow, even before I got here, the last four (meetings) have gone down to the last play of the game. That’s got to be a record. These guys always play really tough, physical against us. We’re going to have to have a really good week of practice like we did last week and be prepared to go on the road.”
