WATCH: Ole Miss baseball wraps up the fall with Omaha Challenge, Pizza Bowl.
The Ole Miss baseball team wrapped up the fall season as preparations for this national championship defense begins with the 2023 season less than two months away.
As is tradition Ole Miss always concludes fall ball with the Omaha Challenge and the Pizza Bowl. The latter is an intrasquad scrimmage where the winning team gets fresh hot pizza and the losers, well, they have to watch in agony.
Ole Miss Pitcher Jackson Kimbrell and shortstop Jacob Gonzalez captained the two teams with Kimbrell’s squad coming away with 16-6 victory in a seven-inning affair on Nov. 11
Team Gonzalez looked poised to take home the victory early as Freshman All-American Hunter Elliott spun two scoreless innings, striking out five batters along the way. Team Kimbrell would eventually find the offense.
After the Pizza Bowl concluded Ole Miss kicked off the Omaha Challenge and was the official end to the fall ball. Kemp Alderman’s squad won the team challenge while Ethan Lege was the 2022 individual Omaha Challenge champion.
