Ole Miss is a win away from solidifying its ticket to the program’s first College Football Playoff after taking care of Florida this past weekend.

All that stands in the way of the Rebels and being part of the 12-team field is a win over Mississippi State in next week’s Egg Bowl down in Starkville. Both teams are on their second, and last, open date of the season this week.

“We’re going to practice and get better,” Lane Kiffin said of the bye. “They’ve already had their long weekend. We’re going to stay focused on our rivalry game. Records don’t matter in that. Got to be ready to play.”

The Rebels (10-1, 6-1 Southeastern Conference) secured its third straight 10-win season on Saturday, making more program history, and keeping themselves in the thick of the CFP race.

This week’s bowl projections sees a lot of ‘6-7’ flavor for Ole Miss as it pertains to a predicted seeding in the CFP, starting next month. A second round location is also starting to focus in on either the Sugar Bowl or Cotton Bowl, depending on said seeding.

Tuesday will bring the third installment of the CFP Top 25 rankings this season. Last week the Rebels dropped a spot to No. 7 after Texas Tech moved up after its win over BYU in a then-Top 10 matchup. This week’s rankings and projected bracket will come out at 7:30 p.m CT on ESPN.
