The final weekend of the NFL Preseason got underway on Thursday and former Ole Miss players have one last chance to solidify their spot on their respective team’s roster.

Cuts down to a 53-man roster are due by Tuesday at 3 p.m. CT and while some Ole Miss players are safe bets to survive – looking at you Jaxson Dart – there are others who will have to make the most of this weekend’s final opportunity.

Speaking of Dart, he wrapped up his preseason on Thursday in the New York Giants 42-10 win over the New England Patriots. The former Rebels quarterback all but solidified himself as either the Giants third, or maybe second, quarterback on the depth chart. He’s all but won over the New York media, for now, as well as the Giants fan base.

For now, Russell Wilson is the starter come the season opener in two weeks, but Dart has proven he is ready if the number’s called early.

“I’m just shifting my perspective to be the best teammate I can be,” Dart said. “Russ has completely earned that role for him. He’s played amazing. He’s played elite. For me, I just want to be the best teammate and I want this team to win. Whatever my role is for that to happen I’m going to do that to the best of my ability.”

While most get only three games to audition former Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris gets a fourth chance. The Los Angeles Chargers are playing in their fourth preseason game on Saturday and were alotted the extra game due to playing in the Hall of Fame game earlier this month.
