This past weekend was one relaxation and recharging for No. 4 Ole Miss as it hit its first open date of the schedule.

Without the ability to add another win to the column, but also not damage the 5-0 start the Rebels are on, the postseason outlook did not see much change.

After beating then-No. 4 LSU last weekend Ole Miss saw its bowl projections flip on its head, surging into the College Football Playoff picture. There were upsets to Top 10 teams on Saturday, specifically Texas and Penn State, but none that had much affect to the Rebels and its bowl projections for week seven.

Here are this week’s bowl projections for Ole Miss

  • Brett McMurphy (On3)
No. 5 vs. No. 12 Memphis (First Round of CFP)
vs. No. 4 Texas A&M (Sugar Bowl)
  • Mark Schlabach (ESPN)
    No. 4 vs. No. 5 Texas A&M (Sugar Bowl/Quarterfinals)
vs. No. 1 Ohio State (Peach Bowl/Semifinals)
  • Kyle Bonagura (ESPN) –
No. 4 vs. No. 5 Oklahoma (Sugar Bowl)
vs. No. 1 Ohio State (Fiesta Bowl)
  • Brad Crawford (CBS Sports) –
No. 3 vs. No. 6 Alabama/No. 11 Georgia Tech (Sugar Bowl)
  • Athlon Sports –
No. 4 vs. No. 5 Alabama (Sugar Bowl)
  • College Football News –
    vs. Florida State (Gator Bowl)

The Rebels are looking for their first berth into the CFP since its formation in 2014. Last weekend’s win over the Tigers goes a long way in setting them up for a special run the rest of this season.

Ole Miss is hosts Washington State (3-2) on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network. From there can really improve its CFP standing with road trips to No. 10 Georgia and No. 6 Oklahoma in back-to-back weeks.
