Week 9 bowl projections for Ole Miss after its first loss of the season

No. 8 Ole Miss is having to pick itself off the mat for the first time this season after its 43-35 loss to Georgia on Saturday in Athens.
Suffering their first loss of the season slimmed down the margin of error for the Rebels (6-1, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) for its final five games. All hope is not lost, though, when it comes to their season goals.
A trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game took a hard blow with the loss and eight teams either with one loss or no losses (Alabama, Texas A&M) in conference play this late in the season. But the bigger goal, a berth to the College Football Playoffs, is still a destiny Ole Miss controls, for now.

A win in Athens would have been the major feather in the cap Ole Miss needed for its CFP résumé but it gets another chance this weekend. The Rebels travel to Norman and take on No. 13 Oklahoma (6-1, 2-1) at 11 a.m. CT on ABC this Saturday.
Splitting the two-game road trip was always the floor for what the Rebels had to do to stay in the CFP race. The Sooners is the last ranked opponent on the schedule and last chance at a good win, so to speak, in the eyes of the CFP selection committee.
