Will we see Austin Simmons this week? Game Runs Deep investigates
Trinidad Chambliss has won three straight games as Ole Miss’ starting quarterback.
He’s not going anywhere anytime soon either, and despite the improving health of injured former starter Austin Simmons.
Simmons sprained his ankle in a win at Kentucky. Sixth-year Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said Monday Simmons is getting closer to 100 percent but he isn’t there yet.
The question is if he plays Saturday against Washington State (3-2).
“He is [closer to getting back on the field],” Kiffin said Monday in his weekly press conference. “Continuing to get closer to 100 percent. He’s not there yet. This week for him was good. We’ll see tomorrow.”

Sudu Upadhyay and Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit discussed the possibility of a Simmons appearance in the latest edition of ‘Game Runs Deep.’ Plus, they discuss Billy Napier’s future after a stunning win over Texas, Kalen DeBoer as a silent killer and can’t-miss plays from Week 6 that had us saying “Bless your heart!”
“He’s not back to 100 percent,” Kiffin said. “We’ll continue to evaluate that and look at everything. We’re in a great place. I mean, we have two great quarterbacks. We have two quarterbacks that are better than a lot of people’s No. 1. It’s awesome to be in this position.”
Austin Simmons injury update: “Continuing to get closer to 100 percent,” according to Lane Kiffin
