ScoopDuck Roundtable: Defensive Player of the Game vs Stanford

We are one day away from Oregon heading South to take on Stanford. It figures to be a lopsided match but we’re preparing for it just the same as the Ducks.
Stanford doesn’t have a ton of firepower offensively. But we are picking our defensive players poised to have abig game for the Ducks.
Corpatty: Steve Stephens
The oft-forgotten elder statesman of Oregon’s secondary has quietly played very well this season. I think it will peak on Saturday culminating with Stephens playing his best game as a Duck. Look for an interception from Stephens as well as a number of other big plays in run support and coverage.
Jarrid Denney: Jordan Burch
After racking up three sacks over the past two games, I don’t expect Jordan Burch to slow down anytime soon. The South Carolina transfer looked dominant against Colorado. This Saturday, he’ll be up against a Stanford OL that is one of the worst in the nation at preventing sacks.
Doug Scott: Jamal Hill
Jamal Hill is going to have his breakout game at Linebacker for the Ducks, excelling in both the running and passing games. I’ve got Hill with 2 TFLs and maybe even an interception in this one.

Joel Gunderson: Jordan Burch
I’m all aboard the Burch train, and I suggest you join me!
Since notching his first sack against Hawaii in week 3, the South Carolina transfer has looked like a different player. And if this is what the Ducks get moving forward? Watch out.
Burch arrived with the skill-set to be the biggest difference-maker for the defense, and it seems as if the lightbulb has finally gone off for the former 5-star.
How about 1.5 sacks, 2.0 TFL, and a forced fumble against the Cardinal? Sounds good to me.
Jhop: Tysheem Johnson
When Oregon faced Texas Tech in week two, the Red Raiders had a 6-foot-9 tight end that was a mismatch. Oregon put Tysheem Johnson on him who fared relatively well overall. Stanford really only has one major offensive weapon, tight end Ben Yurosek. He’s really good and someone I’m sure Oregon will key on. I think Johnson will largely inherit that task and I’m betting on him having a big game Saturday.
