Cornerback Julian Peterson is the latest player to officially decommit from Penn State’s Class of 2026.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Peterson has been committed to the Nittany Lions since January. The Winslow Township prospect grabbed the staff’s attention in the summer of 2024 when he ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and had a broad jump just under 10 feet.

However, following the coaching change, he’s decided to fully open up his recruitment. He’s the second former 2026 commit to fully back away from his commitment today after defensive lineman Alex Haskell announced that he’s decided to flip to Syracuse.

Previously, Peterson also received serious interest from Georgia, but he elected to commit to Penn State instead back in January.

“It was down between Georgia and Penn State,” said Winslow Township head coach and former Penn State running back Bill Belton. “I know he visited Georgia at least twice this year. He camped there in the summer and then I believe he went to the Georgia-Georgia Tech game. But he was kind of going back and forth between those two as he was getting closer to making a decision.”

Now, Peterson is earning interest from a handful of schools. He’s already locked in one official visit for this upcoming weekend with North Carolina. He confirmed with Blue White Illustrated that he’s also discussing visits with Clemson and Wisconsin.

Peterson is ranked No. 633 nationally in the Industry Rankings. He’s the 60th-ranked cornerback and No. 10 overall in New Jersey for the class. Peterson was primarily recruited by Penn State cornerbacks coach Terry Smith and regional recruiter Deion Barnes.

“He’s got the size and the speed. He’s also smart and athletic, so he can do everything that you’re looking for,” Belton said. “I think, for us, he’s a crazy talent. The sky’s the limit for him. But also, he’s a wonderful kid who comes from a great family, a family of athletes. I’m extremely happy and excited for Jules. He fits everything they’re looking for.”
