Where does Penn State now rank in the updated Associated Press Poll?

Penn State improved to 2-0 Saturday in a somewhat lackluster performance against FIU. The 34-0 win doesn’t look too bad when you look across the country – No. 3 LSU beat LA Tech, 23-7, while No. 4 Georgia beat Austin Peay, 28-6 – but nonetheless, there’s still plenty to improve on.

After the game, head coach James Franklin noted that quarterback Drew Allar wasn’t as sharp as he normally is. That played a big role in the Nittany Lions converting just 3 of 12 third-down attempts.

“I didn’t think he was in his normal rhythm,” Franklin said, referring to Allar. “We had some drops. He had some throws that he normally makes that he didn’t. That was a major factor for us on third down. But we just couldn’t seem to get into the rhythm on offense, and that was part of it.”

Most of the top Big Ten programs won on Saturday. Ohio State thrashed Grambling State, 70-0, while Oregon beat up on Oklahoma State, 69-3. Illinois’ road win at Duke was also impressive. However, it was Michigan’s road loss at Oklahoma that had everyone’s attention on Saturday evening. That dropped the Wolverines down to No. XX in the poll.

Next week’s Big Ten schedule features Wisconsin traveling to Alabama to take on the Crimson Tide. Ohio State also hosts an Ohio squad that just defeated West Virginia on Saturday. BetMGM has already released lines on the top thre games of the weekend, with Georgia currently a 6.5-point favorite on the road at Tennessee. LSU is a 9.5-point favorite at home against Florida, while Notre Dame is a 6.5-point favorite against Texas A&M.
