Penn State has had a busy first six days of 2022.

The Nittany Lions have lost members of their program, brought at least two onboard, and continue to sift through the transfer portal to find possible options to offer ahead of the 2022 season.

All the while, four future signees are at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio. While all are impressing scouts on hand, one player, in particular, is standing out. On3 Consensus five-star Drew Allar was named the quarterback MVP for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

We cover that news and more in the newsstand for Jan. 6. Let’s get to the top tweets and headlines about Penn State and college football.

Penn State tweets of the day

Numerous Penn State players will be invited to this year’s NFL Combine. The first two announcements are in.

Defensive end/linebacker Jesse Luketa and specialist Jordan Stout are headed to Indianapolis to take part in the annual event.

“See you in Indianapolis!” Luketa wrote.

Wrote Stout: “Dreams do come true”

Expect similar announcements to come from at least a handful of Nittany Lions in the days ahead.

Penn State also landed a new walk-on commit on Wednesday. It’s Trace Brown, who played receiver and defensive back at Berks Catholic in Reading. The 6-foot, 170-pound senior is a willing tackler on film. His versatility had to be what attracted the Nittany Lions to him.

A preferred walk-on, Brown will arrive on campus this summer.

Quote of the day

“Manny seems like a cool guy, a genuine guy. I have no doubt that he knows what he’s doing after talking to him a few times. Obviously, part of me is hurt that Coach Pry won’t be there, but part of me is really happy for him, too. Getting a big job like that at Virginia Tech is great for him. I think he’s going to do great things there, but no matter what, I’m always going to stick with Penn State.

“All my other people are still there, from John Scott to Coach [James] Franklin to Deion Barnes. Now, I’m building a great relationship with Coach Diaz, so I feel like we’re still on pace to build something special on the defensive side.”

–PSU signee Dani Dennis-Sutton to BWI about the Lions’ change at defensive coordinator and his future in State College.
