The list of former Penn State football players who are still looking for a new place to call home after entering the transfer portal following the 2023 season was reduced by two last week. Receiver, special teams contributor, and team captain Malick Meiga left the Lions after spring practice. Now, he has decided to finish his career at Coastal Carolina. The Sun Belt school offered him a chance to compete for it back on April 18, two days after the Quebec native hit the portal. He made his choice on Wednesday. Fellow former Penn State receiver Malik McClain did so on Sunday, as he picked Arizona State. In between, former Lions safety King Mack picked Alabama.

The trio’s decisions mean the majority of the Lions’ winter and spring transfer portal entries have found a landing spot yet. The team saw six players move on back in January. Two of them, offensive lineman Ibrahim Traore and defensive end Jake Wilson, are still seeking somewhere to play. Seven players left Penn State after spring practice. Four of them are committed, while four are still looking around, although most have only been looking around for the better part of a week.

Track Penn State transfer portal activity

The NCAA transfer portal database is private. But Blue-White Illustrated and the On3 Network have you covered from start to finish when it comes to tracking Penn State player movement.

Our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways. We have articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, a dedicated transfer portal Twitter accountand the On3 Transfer Portal wire.

The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking, and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image, and likeness).

While the transfer portal officially opens for business on April 16 for undergraduate players, grad transfers can enter it at any time. This specific transfer portal window runs through April 30, 2024 and is thus now closed. It is important to note that a player does not need to make his decision by the deadline. Undergrads do, however, have to declare their intent to enter the portal by then. When they pick their next school or decide to return to their current one after that is up to them.
