Four-star WR Jahsiear Rogers reopens recruitment following Penn State coaching change
Penn State lost just one 2026 commit on Sunday in wide receiver Lavar Keys. However, it’s likely just a matter of time until others do the same.
On Monday morning, another 2026 commit, four-star wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers, clarified that while he’s still technically committed to Penn State’s current staff, he’s also decided to reopen his recruitment and potentially take visits elsewhere following the firing of James Franklin.
“I would first like to thank @coachjfranklin & @coachmhagans and staff for believing in me. That being said with the recent coaching change I am reopening my recruitment. I am excited to explore new opportunities,” Rogers posted on social media.
Although he holds a three-star rating in the Industry Rankings, Rogers was one of the ‘hidden gems’ in Penn State’s 2026 class. Listed at just under 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, Rogers burst onto the scene last summer when he attended a 7-on-7 tournament in June.

The Appoquinimink prospect ran a 4.3-second 40-yard dash that day and also showed off his explosion skills with an 11-foot broad jump. Those freaky numbers are a major reason why he’s a four-star prospect and a member of the Rivals300 at No. 195 nationally and No. 24 at the position.
“it’s very obvious that Jahsiear Rogers is super athletic,” said Rivals Scouting Director Charles Power. “I think you see that show up on the field in a functional way. Obviously, he doesn’t play that national competition in Delaware, but you can see the athleticism show up on the field. I think he’s shown a good skill level as well. He’s dangerous in multiple facets, whether it’s separating within the route or making plays with the ball in his hands. I think he catches the ball well, especially for a speed guy. It’s great to be fast, but ball skills are paramount for a receiver. So, I think he’s looked pretty good in that regard.”
On Sunday, Penn State lost a commitment from Rogers’ teammate, 2027 offensive tackle Layton von Brandt. The Nittany Lions lost all four of their previously committed players in the 2027 class. They still technically hold commitments from 24 players in the 2026 class, but just like Rogers, we expect Penn State’s commits to start taking visits elsewhere in the near future.
